In third grade, I played Ms. Claus in the school play (embarrassing, I know). I memorized every line, rehearsed for weeks, and in my mind, I nailed it on performance night. I wasn’t exactly Broadway-bound, but something about Ms. Claus stuck with me.

She’s always been a mystery—hovering at the edges of every Christmas tale. Quiet. Loyal. Supportive. But I always wondered: doesn’t she ever want to share Christmas Eve with Santa, just the two of them, just once? Wouldn’t you?

That question sparked something.

In my debut children’s book, Santa Skips Christmas!?!, Ms. Claus finally takes center stage—reimagined as energetic, savvy, and full of heart. Beloved by her elves and adored by Santa, she plans the ultimate surprise: a chance for the two of them to escape the North Pole for one magical Christmas Eve.

This time, she’s not in the background—she’s leading the way.
