Local Author Brings a Fresh Twist to the Holidays with New Children’s Book, Santa Skips Christmas!?!
Arlington, VA — September 15, 2025 — What happens when Santa decides to take a break? Local author Michelle Luise Walters answers that question in her debut children’s picture book, Santa Skips Christmas!?!, releasing September 15, 2025.
A playful reimagining of a holiday tradition, the book follows Santa and Mrs. Claus as they step away from their usual Christmas Eve routine to rediscover the spirit of the season—leaving the elves in charge of delivering gifts. As chaos and comedy unfold, the story highlights themes of teamwork, friendship, and the magic that lives in all of us.
“This story started with a simple question: What if Mrs. Claus wanted to spend Christmas Eve with Santa?” said Walters. “From there, it turned into a joyful tale about how we create the holiday spirit together—no matter what changes.”
Designed for readers ages 4–8, Santa Skips Christmas!?! features vibrant illustrations, rhyming verse, and a gentle message about imagination, love, and togetherness. It is available in hardcover, paperback, and ebook through Amazon, IngramSpark, and Barnes & Noble Online. The author also invites families, teachers, and librarians to explore more at www.michelleluise.com, where readers can find activities, updates, and character introductions.
Walters, a longtime Virginia resident and mother of twins, wrote the story with family traditions and shared storytelling in mind.
